Mrs. Thompson was an inspiration to me as a child growing up in Wiscasset. Having been in her GT math and language arts classes gave me the skills to be successful at what I do today: teach math and Latin/classical studies. I remember being fascinated while reading Antigone in middle school, learning how to perform multiple mathematical operations in my head in primary school, working on visual spacial and critical thinking skills throughout. I attempt to impart these skills on my students as we discuss the likes of Pyramus and Thisbe or as we do complex geometry problems (et al). I had an excellent early childhood education and Mrs. Thompson was a huge contributor to it.
